Velocity Expands US West Operations
Hires Silicon Valley Veteran Gary Benton to Lead in
Palo Alto
PALO ALTO,
CA, October 6, 2008 – Global Velocity,
Inc., a pioneer in next-generation network security
solutions, today announced it has expanded operations
with the opening of its Palo Alto, California office
and the addition of Gary L. Benton as Vice President
U.S. West. The expansion is designed to meet the needs
of company customers, partners and investors in California
and the US West Region. In addition to intensifying
engineering and sales activities in California, the
company will base its corporate development and legal
affairs under Benton’s leadership in Silicon Valley.

Benton is well-known
in Silicon Valley circles. A technology lawyer by training,
most recently a partner with the San Francisco and New
York based law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman,
LLP, Benton advised many leading Silicon Valley networking
and security companies on strategic US and international
business matters. In addition to having strong ties
to the Silicon Valley technology and venture capital
sectors, Benton played a significant role in outreach
for European, Israeli and Asian startups seeking access
to investment, technology and sales in the Silicon Valley,
and was one of the early champions of cross-border technology
venture investment well before the globalization of
venture capital investment after the 2002 dot-com bust.
In shifting from an
advisory to operational role, Benton explained, “I’ve
